- Why would you use a power rake?
- Power Raking is one of the best ways to spruce up your lawn during the spring season. Although some people prefer to use leaf blowers to remove debris, leaves and dead grass, blowing doesn't scratch the grass surface the same way that raking does. This is why power raking in the spring can help keep your lawn healthy.
- Power raking removes thatch, a tight mat of dead rhizomes, stems and roots, which builds up under the surface of a lawn. Some thatch is beneficial to lawns, but too much blocks water, air and nutrients from reaching the soil. If thatch gets thicker than 1/2 inch deep, the roots grow in the thatch instead of the soil.
- When should I power rake my lawn?
- Power Raking can be done in Spring or Fall. If you're looking to remove Winter debris, it is recommended to do it before the lawn starts growing to avoid setting the lawn back during critical Spring time growth.
- Power raking in Squamish (also known as dethatching) is beneficial to get rid on the moss from our lawns.
